Special Cleaning Instructions:

Cellular and Pleated Shades

Regular cleaning of cellular and pleated shades is important yet easy maintenance that keeps shades looking new long after purchase. Dusting and vacuuming are recommended for monthly maintenance. If the shade becomes soiled with topical dirt (i.e. dirt that is resting on the surface of fabric), we recommend that the shade be spot-cleaned using a soft cloth or sponge, a mild detergent, and warm water. Immediately wipe the area with a clean, damp sponge (back and forth gently in the direction parallel to the pleats in the fabric) until the stains are removed. If necessary, the entire shade may be cleaned in this fashion. Pat with a clean, dry towel to remove excess water. Be careful not to crush or wrinkle the fabric. Frequent cleaning may remove fullness and body of the pleated fabric. Make sure shade is fully open and allow to air dry. Extra care should be used when cleaning cellular blackout material from the Midnight collection, as the fabric could be permanently creased. Please contact Customer Service for specific cleaning methods and detergents. Dry cleaning is not recommended and is not covered by warranty.

When dusting, vacuuming, and spot cleaning aren't enough and deeper cleaning is desired, ultrasonic or injection/extraction cleaning with a professional blind cleaner is an option. Professional blind cleaners use a variety of methods to clean blinds and vary in their capabilities. While Springs Window Fashions knows that many of our window treatments can be safely cleaned using the appropriate ultrasonic or injection/extraction cleaning methods we cannot guarantee the outcome of any cleaning services provided by an independent company. For deep stains or soil, contact a cleaner from the certified network of ultrasonic cleaners. For assistance in locating a certified blind cleaner that serves your area, visit blindcleaners.biz or contact Customer Service.

Wood Blinds

Painted and Stained Finishes: Clean with Pledge or other spray polish and a soft cloth. Never use water.

Vertical Blinds

Vinyl vanes may be removed and immersed in water for cleaning. To eliminate static electricity, coat the vanes with a thin layer of mild detergent.
Fabric vanes should not be immersed in water or dry cleaned.

Sheer Enchantment® Soft Vertical Blinds: Sheer Enchantment fabrics are steam-pressed in the manufacturing process but may need to be re-steamed or ironed at a low temperature before hanging. Do not steam or iron fabric while it is on the vanes as they will be damaged. Do not put fabric in the dryer.
Machine-washable fabric is easy to wash, and there's no need to take down the entire blind to do so!
  • Unsnap the fabric from the vanes and place in wash.
  • Use the gentle cycle, warm water and Woolite® Fine Fabric Wash or other mild laundry detergent. Do not use chlorine bleach.
  • Line dry fabric. Do not put fabric in dryer!
  • If necessary, steam or iron at a low temperature before putting fabric back on vane.
  • Snap fabric back onto the vinyl vanes.
